TRITONS THIS WEEK: What's Coming On November 13-19

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – It's a slower, but important, week for Triton athletics as volleyball wraps up the regular season with three matches while the EC basketball teams begin conference play on Wednesday taking on one of their main rivals.

  • Eckerd (15-10, 8-9 SSC) enters the week riding the momentum of a straight-sets win at Lynn on Saturday. Eckerd travels to Tampa on Tuesday before hosting Embry-Riddle on Friday and Florida Tech on Saturday for senior night. 
  • The Triton attack is led by Paula Hoffmann with 308 kills. Her kills and kills per set (3.54) are seventh in the conference. Posing an additional threat on the attack is the trio of Mackenzie Redner (173 Kills), Abbie O'Ferrell (151), and Stephanie Karlovics (144). 
  • Eckerd leads the conference at the service line posting 162 aces. Arielle Erillo (45), Fernanda Reis (30), and Kaitlyn Sibson (28) lead Eckerd, while Erillo tops the conference. 
  • Sibson paces the team's back-row defense with 477 digs, ranking second in the conference as do her 5.07 digs per set. 
  • Tampa (15-13, 10-7 SSC) posted two 3-0 wins last week in SSC play. The Spartans pose a balanced attack as four players have over 200 kills - Nicole Dominguez (298), Sorrel Houghton (286), Nylah Demps (242), and Taylor Fosler (233). 
  • Embry-Riddle (13-11, 8-10 SSC) enters the match having lost two in a row. The Eagles are led by Melanie Canfield with 316 kills. Her 3.67 kills per set ranks fifth in the conference. Olivia Roa leads the conference in digs with 530. 
  • Florida Tech (9-15, 4-14 SSC) looks to break a five-match losing streak and finish its season on a high note when the Panthers visit Eckerd. Olivia Hershey leads the Panther attack with 236 kills. Kyra Atkinson leads the defense with 428 digs. 
  • Earlier this season Eckerd beat Florida Tech while losing to Tampa and Embry-Riddle. In the win over FIT, O'Ferrell had 13 kills and Sibson had 33 digs.
  • On Saturday, the Tritons will honor their five seniors (Sibson, Karlovics, Redner, Madison Whiting and Kali Boatwright) as well as Gabriella Reis.

  • After winning both of its games at the SSC-GSC Challenge, Eckerd (2-0) opens conference play with a visit to Tampa on Wednesday before hosting Barry on Saturday.  
  • The Tritons lead the conference behind the arc, sinking 23 3-pointers in their first two games. Kacie Juday leads the offense averaging 11.0 points per game; she also leads the team off the glass with 8.5 rebounds per game. Yarden Danan is the team's second-leading scorer averaging 10.0 points per contest.
  • Tampa (2-0) is led by newcomers Emily Eshoo and Staja Tyghter averaging 17.5 and 15.5 points per game, respectively. Tyghter also averages 10.0 rebounds per game. 
  • The Barry (1-1) offense is led by three players averaging double-digit points – Kiara Palmer (16.5), Ida Andersson (12.5), and Barbara Cousino (12.0). Palmer also averages 6.5 rebounds per game.
  • Last season, Eckerd swept both Tampa and Barry.

  • Eckerd (2-0) enters the first week of conference play coming off two wins at the SSC-GSC Challenge. The Tritons will travel to Tampa on Wednesday and host No. 5/12 Barry on Saturday. 
  • Four Tritons lead the offense averaging double-digits in points: Drushaun McLaurn (13.5), Keshawn Ingram (11.0), Blake Morrow (11.0), and Travis Bianco (11.0). 
  • Trevon Young leads Eckerd on the boards averaging 8.5 per game, while Marco Behori averages 6.5 per contest.
  • Tampa's (2-0) offense is led by Pat Bacon and Duke Shelton averaging 28.5 and 21.0 points per game, respectively. Shelton also averages 16.0 rebounds per game. Bacon and Shelton swept the Sunshine State Conference Player and Defensive Player of the Week awards after their performances last weekend.
  • Barry (0-0) has played one exhibition game, but made the most of it by defeating SEC member Auburn (Ala.), 100-95, in overtime. The Bucs will play St. Thomas (Fla.) on Wednesday before heading to the McArthur Center on Saturday. 
  • Last season, Eckerd swept Tampa and narrowly lost to Barry three times, the last time coming in the NCAA South Regional Tournament.
