ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Following a busy week of conference play, things don't slow down for Eckerd's fall sports this week. Volleyball and women's soccer will continue conference play at home, while men's soccer and coed sailing will travel in conference. Women's golf, men and women's tennis, and sailing are also on the road. Finally, the Tritons men's and women's basketball team will mark the beginning of their respective seasons with the annual "Triton Tipoff" Saturday night.
Women's Golf

*The Tritons opened the season last week at the Battle at Old South in Bluffton, S.C., finishing 18th. Freshman Laila Fortsmane made an impressive debut, shooting 157 that included an opening-round 77. The team will travel to Palm Harbor Monday and Tuesday for the Sand Shark Invitational at Innisbrook Resort's Island Course.

* Eckerd (6-3, 2-3 SSC) enters the week coming off two conference wins over the weekend, beating Nova Southeastern, 3-1, and sweeping Barry, 3-0. They will continue conference play during the week hosting No. 20 Saint Leo and Lynn. Eckerd has a bye weekend in conference play but will travel to Flagler on Saturday.

Paula Hoffmann leads the Tritons attack with 124 kills on the season. The sophomore sits second in the conference in kills per set averaging 4.28. Hoffmann recorded a double-double Friday at Nova Southeastern with 13 kills and 12 digs. Libero
Kaitlyn Sibson leads Eckerd defense with 150 digs on the season averaging 5.00 per set – second in the conference.
* The Tritons set a school record Saturday for aces in the 25-point set era with 17 against Barry.
Arielle Erillo and
Fernanda Reis lead Eckerd at the service line. Erillo has 22 aces this season, five of which came on Saturday, and Reis has 16 aces on the season. The pair sits first and second in the conference in aces per set with .76 and .53 respectively.
* Saint Leo (9-1, 4-1 SSC) went 3-0 last week in conference with wins over Tampa, Barry, and Nova Southeastern. Ashley Quero and Victoria Omoregia lead the Lions' attack with 107 and 87 kills respectively.
* Lynn (4-4, 2-3 SSC) went 2-1 last week in conference, losing to Florida Tech in five sets and beating Nova Southeastern and Embry-Riddle. Sonja Udovcic leads the Fighting Knights with 95 kills. Marcella De Vuono leads the team's net defense with 31 total blocks, averaging 1.03 per set.
* Flagler (8-3) is coming off two five-set wins over the weekend against Lander (S.C.) and Augusta (Ga.). The Saints will play two games before they face the Tritons, including a 1:00 PM matchup Saturday before the contest with Eckerd.
* Last season, Eckerd split with Saint Leo and Lynn beating them both at home, 3-0, before losing both contests, 3-1, on the road. Eckerd has not played Flagler since 2012, but the Tritons lead the all-time series record, 12-3.

* Eckerd (2-5, 1-3 SSC) split its conference matchups last week, defeating Embry-Riddle, 2-1, in overtime on Wednesday at Johnson Field before dropping a contest at Lynn, 2-1. The Tritons will host Saint Leo on Wednesday before heading into their bye weekend.

Paula Astiazaran lead Eckerd's offense. Linton has scored six goals on the season, which is tied for first in the conference. Astiazaran scored two goals last week including the golden goal in the 94th minute of Eckerd's win over Embry-Riddle for her first goal of the season. She also scored a goal in the 88th minute against Lynn.

* Eckerd (3-4, 1-3 SSC) enters the road matchup against Saint Leo splitting their conference games last weekend. The Tritons won on Wednesday, 1-0, and lost in a heartbreaker to No. 5 5 Lynn on Saturday, 3-2. Eckerd will play Wednesday before entering their bye weekend.

Juan David Tejada leads the Eckerd offense with four goals and one assist. His four goals are tied for third-most in the conference while his shots (20) are second in the conference.

* The Eckerd men's and women's tennis teams played last weekend at the Panther Invitational at Florida Tech. The Tritons played well in the round-robin style matches and will continue similar play as they travel to Winter Park, Fla. for the C. L. Varner Invitational this weekend.

* Sailing boasted a strong weekend on the water winning the SAISA South Points #4.
William Ratcliff and
Sage Morgan led Eckerd from the B division totaling 17 points over nine races. The women's team also sailed well placing third at the SAISA Women's Championship to qualify for the Atlantic Coast Championships.
* The coed teams will be split traveling to Jacksonville Saturday for the SAISA South Points #5 and also traveling to Rhode Island for the Moody Trophy Saturday and Sunday. The women's team travels to Maryland for the Navy Fall Women's Regatta.
Men's/Women's Basketball

* The Eckerd men's and women's basketball team will host their annual "Triton Tipoff" Saturday night at the McArthur Center to preview the 2017-18 teams. The night's events will start with a tailgate at 9:00 PM followed by the tipoff at 9:30. The men's and women's basketball teams will then be introduced to the fans, and the men's team will run a layup and dunk line to showcase their skills.
