No. 5 Sailfish Defeat Tritons, 3-0

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The No. 5 Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish proved worthy of their national ranking on Saturday, scoring an early goal and adding two more in the second half on the way to a 3-0 win over the Eckerd men's soccer team.

HOW IT ENDED
Final: No. 5 Palm Beach Atlantic 3, Eckerd 0
Records: Eckerd 3-6-1 (1-5-1 SSC); PBA 10-0-2 (6-0-1 SSC)
All-Time Series: PBA leads, 11-7

HOW IT HAPPENED
* It took little time for the Sailfish to find the net.  On the first shot of the match, Charlie Dennis sent home a pass from Juan Pablo Puelma for a quick 1-0 lead.
* PBA continued to pepper the frame throughout the half, taking 11 shots, but Dennis's goal was the only one the team could muster.  Alex Gott stopped two attempts while several more were blocked by Triton defenders.
* The Sailfish continued to control the run of play in the second half and Dennis added a second goal in the 60th minute on an assist from Phill Cardoso.
* Eckerd had its only chance in the 48th minute on a Juan David Tejada shot that sailed wide.
* In the 72nd minute, Claudio Rivadeneira finished a cross from Fredo Dilbert giving PBA a 3-0 lead.

NOTABLE
* The Sailfish dominated possession, out-shooting Eckerd 21-1.  Gott totaled three saves in goal.
* PBA widened its lead in the SSC standings to three points over Lynn, which played to a draw against Tampa earlier in the day.  The Sailfish are the only unbeaten team in the conference.

QUOTABLE
"Tonight was the first game where we were never really in the match.  So we face the facts: right now, their program is miles ahead of ours and we have major work to do to be able to compete on that level.  There's no overnight fix.  But for the short term, we fight for the seniors who have given their all for this program." - EC head coach Ian Cameron.
