ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College Athletics Department gathered with student-athletes in the McArthur Center to celebrate the 2012-13 accomplishments together on Friday night in the McArthur Center.
The annual James R. Harley Award winners were presented to four accomplished student-athletes, including Woody Taylor (men's basketball) and Matt Duffy (men's soccer), along with Krystal Charles (women's basketball) and Kristen Schurr (softball).
By definition, the male and female recipients of the Harley Award have demonstrated leadership and excellence in the classroom, on the field of competition and in their community. This is the highest award an Eckerd College student-athlete can receive.
Each sport's head coach handed out Most Valuable Player trophies and Triton Award hardware as the evening progressed. A complete list of each sport's recipients can be found below.
The Triton Award is presented to the student-athlete who have reached the highest levels of athletic achievement, scholarship and leadership.
Three new members were also inducted into the Eckerd College Athletics Hall of Fame as Monica Wilson (women's soccer), Carlos Somoano (men's soccer) and John Mayotte (baseball), were sworn in.
Brand new banners for the South Regional-qualifying programs were unveiled in the gym to honor the men's basketball, men's golf and volleyball teams.
