Harthorne joined the Eckerd community in February 2019 as the Coordinator for Diversity & Inclusion Programs.
She serves on the Diversity Action Committee and is also the supervisor for the Afro-American Society (AAS), the oldest chartered student organization at Eckerd, which provides support for black students at Eckerd.
In the summer of 2020, she assisted the athletic department in creating the Athletic Diversity Action Committee (ADAC), consisting of current student-athletes, alumni, coaches, and administrators whose purpose is to guide Athletics in actions they would like to see both in athletics and across campus in order to support student-athletes of color.
Prior to Eckerd, Harthorne served as the Assistant Director for the Center if Community Involvement at the University of the Pacific (Calif.) from 2015-2018.
She also worked as the Community Outreach Specialist at Massachusets Campus Compact from 2014-2015.
She has a B.A. from Western New England University in Springfield, MA, and an M.A. in Education from the University of San Francisco. Her research is rooted in race and racism in the U.S. She is committed to working with the college community to create critical and inclusive spaces.
Since 2015, Harthorne has also served as a planning committee member and outreach subcommittee Chair for the Impact National Conference.
