ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Eckerd is set to honor the 1994-95 Sunshine State Conference Championship men's basketball team on February 29 during the men's basketball game against Rollins.
In 1994-95, Eckerd picked up two key road wins at Saint Leo and Barry in the final week of the regular season to earn the program's first SSC regular season title.
Eckerd earned just its third trip to the NCAA Tournament, where they topped Lander (S.C.), 82-79, in the opening round of the South Regional. EC lost to Alabama A&M in the second round but beat Armstrong State (Ga.) in the consolation game.
The 1994-95 Tritons finished the season 22-10 and 11-3 in SSC play, highlighted by winning seven of their last eight games in the regular season.
Eckerd will celebrate the 25
th anniversary of the first regular-season SSC Championship with a special ceremony at halftime on Saturday, February 29, when Eckerd hosts Rollins at 4:00 PM in the McArthur Center.
