ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.
– The Eckerd College men's tennis program was shorthanded as it went up against No. 37 nationally ranked University of West Alabama on Thursday afternoon, falling by a final score of 8-1 at the Turley Athletic Complex.

The Tritons (1-11 overall) were without the services of seniors Dylan Randazzo and Ben Levy due to academic obligations and the Tigers (17-2 overall), also ranked eighth in the South Region, extended their win streak to 11 straight.

With the lineup shuffled around for singles and doubles competition, the new-look pairing of sophomore Stephen Felman and sophomore Luke Burton emerged as victors in the No. 1 doubles flight following an exciting tiebreaker, 9-8.

Felman had a tough test in singles action against South Region No. 18-rated Nestor Vargas in a straight-set defeat.

The Tigers recorded a trio of straight-set wins while three other singles matches were completed in the 8 game pro-set format as the afternoon wore on.

With only two matches left on the regular-season schedule, the Tritons will honor Randazzo and Levy on Senior Day next Thursday against Rose Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology beginning at 2 p.m.
