Coed, Women’s Sailing Programs Garner Preseason National Recognition

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College sailing programs are on the national radar before the season gets underway, earning respective spots in the Sperry Top-Sider Sailing World College rankings released this week.

The Tritons' women landed 15th with 21 total votes while the coed program received nine votes to stand just outside of the top-20 ranked programs.

A total of 14 head coaches cast their votes in the poll.

“This is an exciting spot to start coaching with the team,” stated EC Head Coach Kevin Reali. “We are nationally recognized, but still have plenty to set our sights on."

Both programs are preparing for their first season as a full-fledged member of the Eckerd athletics department.

Reali is beginning his first season as head coach and Zack Marks officially joined his staff in the offseason as a full-time assistant.

As it stands, the coed program will begin the season at the Charleston Fall Open in South Carolina on Sept. 8-9.

The women's first scheduled team event in Sept. 29-30 in Miami at the SAISA Singlehanded Championships.
