During Thornton’s four years at Eckerd College he had a diverse athletic career in basketball and baseball from 1971-1974.
Thornton holds the fifth spot in Eckerd’s history for rebounds per game with 10.3.
Thornton was awarded the John F. Kennedy Physical Fitness Award for basketball in 1973.
