  • Mathews was a three-sport athlete during her time at EC. She played women's basketball and volleyball from 1983-87 and slow-pitch softball in 1984, garnering Sunshine State Conference accolades in both basketball and volleyball. 
  • In volleyball, she was named to the All-SSC First Team in 1985 and 1986. In basketball, she was a three-time all-conference selection, receiving second-team honors in 1984-85, honorable mention in 1985-86, and finally first-team recognition her senior year in 1986-87. 
  • Over her four years, Mathews scored 929 points while grabbing 528 rebounds. She ranks in the top-10 in three categories in program history, fourth in points per game (15.7), sixth in field goal percentage (.502), sixth in blocks (99).
  • She holds the single-season program record for field goals made in 1986-87 with 218. She also ranks fourth in single-season points (494), fourth in points per game (18.3), and fifth in rebounds (256). 
  • After her time at Eckerd, she played one season of professional basketball in France and played handball at the Olympic Festival in 1987.
  • Mathews then served as an area manager of a security company for major sporting events, like the Super Bowl, before becoming a freelance artist.
