  • From 1978 to 1990, a passionate man by the name of John Mayotte helped the Eckerd College baseball program reach the pinnacle of the college level with 13 successful seasons as head coach.
  • With 437 wins compiled during his team while managing the Tritons, Mayotte was named the Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year in 1980 and 1981.
  • Immersed into the game he loves at an early age, Mayotte has been involved with baseball since 1950, coming through the ranks with incredible success at each level.
  • At Eckerd, Mayotte won over 68 percent of his games coached with seven 35-plus winning seasons and the team was ranked No. 1 in the country on three different occasions. The Tritons played in six regional tournaments under his watch and beat the University of Miami in back-to-back seasons, including when the Hurricanes would go on to win the College World Series.
  • Among the all-time Eckerd program greats he coached included Steve Balboni and Jim Mecir, second and third-round Major League draft selections, along with Bill Norris and Jon Mueller.
  • Mayotte went on to enjoy a 12-year tenure at Troy State University, including a 1993 Division II appearance in the World Series. He was the Cape Cod League Coach of the Year in 1985 for the Chatham A's as part of a five-year span and was a two-time Coach of the Year in the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
  • He is also a member of the State of York Hall of Fame, the Troy State Hall of Fame and the Albany Twilight League Hall of Fame. Most recently, he continues to coach the Glens Falls Golden Eagles in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League since 2004.
  • All told, Mayotte has a decorated resume that included 821 wins as a head coach on the college level.
  • Coach Mayotte currently resides in Madeira Beach with his wife, Amy.
