Norris continued the lineage of Eckerd baseball alums who paved their road into the ranks of the minor leagues at the professional level as a 25th-round selection by the Boston Red Sox in the 1990 MLB June Amateur Draft.
During his three-year career with the Tritons from 1988-1990, Norris ranks towards the top of the program's record books in a number of career statistical categories that still withstand the test of time.
With Eckerd, he contributed to three consecutive NCAA Championship South Regional appearances in 1988, 1989 and 1990.
He graduated from Eckerd in 1992 with his Bachelors of Arts in Human Development
Norris holds the school's single-season runs record with 64 and career-wise is additionally ranked seventh in RBI (134), tied for fourth in triples (12), sixth in extra-base hits (67), fifth in doubles (40), 11th in slugging percentage (.567), 12th in on-base percentage (.441), and 10th in in hits (193).
In five minor league seasons, Norris appeared in over 450 games from different levels as he worked his way up the ladder to AA New Britain. During his second year as a professional, he hit 10 home runs and had 60 RBI for Class A advanced Lynchburg.
Norris started in the Gulf Coast League and was eventually promoted to the Florida State League, Carolina League and Eastern League.
