ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College volleyball program mined more talent from the Midwest region to round out its signing day class, announcing the commitment from defensive specialist/libero Kelie Reimer of Fond du Lac, Wis.
Reimer joins setter Emily Schadow of Bloomington, Minn., as signees for Eckerd Head Coach Courtney Draper's latest recruiting haul for the Tritons, who reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history last year.
The versatile prep Wisconsin product attended the Tritons' summer camp a year ago and is slated to help fill the void left by fearless All-SSC and All-South Region performer
Hallie Ward, who wrapped up her storied collegiate career in the fall.
“We return six of our seven top leading point scorers from last season and someone has to deliver them the ball,” Draper explained. “Kelie is a serious game-changer, which is hard for a back-row player to do. She will help our passing and defensive game.”
Reimer is a promising libero who helped Fond du Lac High School to three consecutive regional and sectional titles that complemented three straight state appearances, culminating with a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Division I runner-up state finish as a senior.
Coached by Julie Riese, she was also a two-time Fox Valley All-Conference Team member, earning first-team accolades as a senior and honorable mention status in her junior campaign.
In addition, Reimer was a three-year letterwinner for the Cardinals' soccer team and has logged eight years of club volleyball experience through the Fond du Lac Fusion and the Wisconsin Volleyball Academy.
Reimer owns Fond du Lac H.S. records in career digs (1,676), digs in a single season (701) and career service aces (701).
Reimer, who chose Eckerd over the University of West Florida and California State University-San Marcos, is an aspiring Marine Science and Psychology major. She is the daughter of Mark and Kathy Reimer.
